About The Formula

Digestive Bitters is a blend of bittered herbs designed to activate the digestive system. The bitter flavor on the tongue actually tells the body it is time to start digesting

food. You will notice you begin salivating upon taking it. It’s also supportive in signaling your gallbladder to release bile and your pancreas to release digestive enzymes. A strong digestive system is key to ensuring we are breaking down our food and eliminating it in a timely manner. This is a great blend if you tend to suffer from constipation.

The Super Star Herb

Yellow dock; Rumex crispus

Though a valuable herb, yellow dock is not often used on its own, being combined with other alterative herbs such as burdock root and dandelion root for long-term toxic conditions. Its gentle laxative actions makes it a valuable remedy for constipation, particularly when combined with changes to the diet such as increased bulk and fiber. By stimulating large intestine function, the stool is eliminated more efficiently, with reduced reabsorption of waste products, a form of toxicity that tends to occur in a poorly functioning colon. Yellow dock is also thought to improve the flow of bile, which further contributes to its detoxifying activity. Yellow dock is also regarded as a source of iron and is used in cases of anemia. It has an ability to bring up low iron counts more quickly than iron supplementation and aids the body’s assimilation of iron.

How to Use

Digestive Bitters is best taken five to ten minutes before a meal. It can also be taken if you feel your food is just sitting in the stomach, or as needed for constipation.

This tincture must be taken sublingually in order for it to have its full effects on the digestive system. Meaning do not take it by adding it to water or juice. You need those bitter receptors to light up.

The Story Behind The Formula

Supporting digestion has always been important to me so I wanted to formulate something that was easy to use but that had a big punch. Back before iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing our ancestors used to sit down to a salad of bitter greens like arugula, dandelion, and radicchio. However, we lost this tradition somewhere along the way. The bitter flavor is now one most people try to avoid, yet it is incredibly important for digestive health.

While trading in a digestive bitter for a salad of bitter greens is an option, I find most people would rather have a supplement they can turn to instead. Digestive Bitters was my way of providing this option while still supporting proper body signaling and keeping it as close to the real deal as possible.
